Unlike so many of today’s major hotels, the rooms and lobby here are colorful and bright as opposed to dull and blandish brown. I really appreciated that touch, and it kind of extends to the whole property, which manages to walk the line between stylish and ridiculous more or less successfully. The building itself makes a statement: you’ll notice it as soon as you turn onto Stuart Street, and it's very close to notable city attractions like Chinatown and the Common, not to mention many theaters. The wall mural in the gym is a little…odd, but it’s a large room with a lot of attendants and exercise machines. Also, by staying here you can get access to the fitness facilities at other area hotels owned by the same company, although whether you want to ride two or three stops on the T just to swim in a pool is up to you. Overall, though, this is a "chic" hotel with substance.

The W is one of Boston’s newest hotels, and it certainly feels like it. The all-glass building has the feeling of a cruise ship on the inside, mostly because the décor is heavy on blue. The hotel’s staff is both friendly and keen on the details – the elevators, for examples, have mats that are changed thrice daily to say either “good morning,” “good afternoon,” or “good night.” The bathrooms inside the room are a pretty decent size, but they somewhat lack privacy as only a see-through painting separates them from the room (we were told that a privacy screen is available on request). Despite having hotel rooms up to 15 floors up, the view isn’t too good. But you can see almost straight down to the street. The gym in the hotel is rather large for a hotel gym, and while there may not be a pool on site, guests can arrange to use the pool at either the Sheraton or Westin for free.

The W Boston has all the predictable features of a W hotel, and I had a really good time when I stayed here a few years ago. It had a fun vibe, young, boutique vibe and it really made me feel like I was getting unique and personalized service (which I was)!
This is definitely a good location in Downtown, and the concierge was very helpful in finding restaurants and for us.
