I love staying in Wailea and the Marriott is an incredibly beautiful resort that is less expensive and less crowded than the nearby such as the Four Seasons, etc. The rooms were recently renovated and are large and comfortable. The infinity pool is small but has a stunning view and it feels less crowded. Hang out at the beach that front the resort or stroll down the ocean side path and get the full taste of Wailea by foot. Mala is a great place to eat and there are many other options nearby. Also, the Marriott has the only nearby Starbucks if you're a caffeine junkie like me.Recommended for:

Where many of the vacationing families from the mainland stay in the Wailea resort area of South Maui, this Marriott is a more affordable alternative to the nearby Grand Wailea and Fairmont Kea Lani hotels. The hotel's pool complex is loads of fun, or you can hit the public beaches of Wailea for snorkeling and sand.Recommended for:

Beautiful, relaxing and serene! Lots of activities to keep you busy or just relax in peace and quiet. Marvelous walking paths along the ocean while whales are frolicking just offshore.

I could feel the trade winds blowing every unimportant thought away as I watched the sun set at the Wailea Beach Marriott. This is a place where elegant is not overdone and the architecture meets the vastness of the ocean – it blends effortlessly. The infinity pool and individual cabanas were incredible! You can watch everyone stop fast in their tracks when the sun is setting from this vantage point. I was truly awe struck in a hotel that actually felt like a sanctuary. Rooms had excellent views and were in good taste. Details like little perches to look out over the beautiful gardens, a real spa, gym and divine lotus ponds added a lot to the sense of serenity. It seems pricey, but not as much as the Grand Wailea. What you get is less like a Maui Disney Land and more like a beautiful retreat.Recommended for:

Amazing customer service! From the valet to the front desk to the housekeeping, everyone will make you feel special. Super clean property and not so big you have to walk a mile to get to a restaurant or the beach. Mala, the main restaurant, is a great place to have dinner and watch the sunset whether or not you are staying on the property.

This is one of my favorite places to stay in Maui, especially when I land my room through Priceline. Between 2001-2003, I was able to get a room several times for about $120 per night (not including taxes, Priceline's fee and a resort fee). But the hotel was undergoing a renovation during that time. The last time I stayed here, I believe I paid either $160 or $180 a night (before fees and taxes). This property was once an Outrigger hotel, so it's spread out and not ideal for those who don't enjoy walking. My favorite features of this hotel are: 1) its location on the Wailea beachfront path; 2) its infinity swimming pool that has a fantastic view of the ocean; 3) it's walking distance to the Shops at Wailea; and 4) Wailea is just a short drive from the Kihei boat ramp which is used by Mike Severns Diving, my favorite dive operator on Maui.
