after lunch my sister had sometime and thought she'd show us around.....
we walked back across the street and I was like
M- isn't that the building from Ironman where Stark dances with Miss Potts?
H- Yes...yes it is
apparently she works here....and she showed us around with her cool lil badge pass fob thingy. there were tours all around but we snuck past ushers and electronic locked doors. that's how we roll. so apparently a Disney person donated a lot of money to the creation of this building specifying that the sounds should be impeccable for performances and that the gardens be available to the public for free. it was nice seeing the garden terraces....in LA. I guess I don't know LA like I thought I did.
she brought us into places that only "the FOUNDERS" go into
think eyes wide shut secret society shit going on - large rooms where the creme de la creme congregrate before shows and what have you...drinking drinks, snacking on hors dourves...
or do they??
It's the sound of music! The sound of music at the Walt Disney Concert Hall that my sister can easily get us into simply because she's a pimp. Pimp of the arts! Not to be confused with a Pimp called Slickback... erm, that's another story altogether.
As the story goes.. my sister works for someone somewhere but either which way she knows people here and so she kind of has free run of the house.. more or less. Its funny that when we went there was a performance and we got to check it out the back stage and see the people practicing in formal wear while I was wearing chucks. I have always found this building, the interior, and the gardens to be very beautiful and inspiring. From the metal work outside that magnifies the heat on the hot days to the wonderful wood work inside to the hidden gardens... its all so calming. And more importantly I was glad to have shared that with others.

Designed by Frank Gehry, Walt Disney Concert Hall has, along with the Hollywood Sign and the silhouette of City Hall, become a commonly recognized symbol of Los Angeles. Home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, it is one of the world's most acoustically sophisticated concert halls.
Whether visiting for a concert or simply for a tour, the building's perimeter should be explored. The Concert Hall's "backyard" has a small outdoor amphitheater, a fountain, a park and various plants all of which compliment the structure. In addition, views of downtown from different perimeter vantage points help make navigating the numerous outside staircases rewarding.

The Walt Disney Concert Hall at 111 South Grand Avenue in Downtown of Los Angeles, California, is the fourth hall of the Los Angeles Music Center. Bounded by Hope Street, Grand Avenue, and 1st and 2nd Streets, it seats 2,265 people and serves (among other purposes) as the home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic orchestra and the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
Lillian Disney made an initial gift of $50 million in 1987 to build a performance venue as a gift to the people of Los Angeles and a tribute to Walt Disney's devotion to the arts and to the city. The Frank Gehry-designed building opened on October 24, 2003. Both the architecture by Frank Gehry and the acoustics of the concert hall (designed by Yasuhisa Toyota) were praised in contrast to its predecessor, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
