Politics & Prose Bookstore & Coffeehouse

    4 reviews

As the name suggests, this independent bookstore strikes a great balance between, well, politics and prose, often playing host to some of the world's best authors and most well known politicians. The store has survived in a culture of Kindles and iBooks because it is unique. The staff are extremely friendly and the maze of shelves is perfect for getting ...

    Thai X-ing

    4 reviews

Fixed priced meals only. This converted row house takes you into cozy rooms for an intimate meal on one of the three floors. We went on vegetarian night, which also included a fish dish. Prices were reasonable for what we ate, and the food was excellent (for someone who is a non-vegetarian, that's something!)

    Pearl Dive Oyster Palace

    4 reviews

This brilliant upscale seafood shack is the the love child of New Orleans and New England. One of the best meals I have had in a very long time. These guys serve up great cocktails and very high quality seafood. Everyone at our table raved about what they ordered and we sampled liberally from each other's plates. A few highlights... ...

    Meridian Pint

Great eats upstairs (for brunch, lunch or dinner) and a hopping bar downstairs. Their beer menu is significant and well thought out, with a little something for everyone whether you're into IPA's, stouts or copper ales. Seating is usually competitive but sufficient, and there's plenty of standing room for the late comers. There are even a few bar games around ...

    Chop T Creative Salad Co

    4 reviews

Chop'T Creative Salad Company is another local salad chain that uses local and seasonal ingredients. It can get very busy during lunchtime hours as more people try to incorporate fresh ingredients into their daily lives. They have options for all foodies - gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian.

    The Front Page

    6 reviews

Good happy hour option right by Dupont Circle. If you enter from the side facing the metro stop walk through to the back, where they have a second bar, which is a lot quieter, and a much better option if you want to relax with a beer and talk to your friends

This place gets extremely crowded some nights with a lot of rude people. Not very enjoyable. I will probably never go back here to drink or eat.

There are a lot of Ethiopian restaurants in this area, but this one stood out to us when we passed by since it was PACKED. Service here is not amazing, but the food is delicious. If you have never had Ethiopian food, you order everything you want, and then it comes out all on 1 platter in little piles on ...

    Banana Cafe & Piano Bar

    4 reviews

Great empanadas and mofundos and a good choice if you are in the mood for these or some other authentic Cuban and Puerto Rican dishes. Loud music, cheap margaritas, beer specials and lots of people watching if you grab a seat outside. Situated at one end of Barracks Row, this place is always lively, fun and cheap.

    Lauriol Plaza

Not known for being a classy joint, but value cannot be beat and Mexican food here is well-prepared. Service is mediocre.

    Leopold's Kafe + Konditorei

Kafe Leopold is hidden down Cady's Alley in Georgetown, and thank god it's tucked away or it would be swamped most of the time. It's a European Cafe that serves a lot of pastries I have only had in Hungary, and their coffee is phenomenal. If you can score a seat outside on warm summer night, it's the perfect place ...

    Bistrot Du Coin

    4 reviews

When you’re feeling nostalgic for anything France, look no further. Inside Bistrot Du Coin you find an authentically French food, wine and atmosphere. You cannot go wrong with the Steak Frites, but make sure that you order some moules too. This is one of my favorite places to eat in DC, the food is consistently great.

    Blues Alley Club

    3 reviews

Blues Alley is the quintessential jazz club. It's dark and brooding and the perfect venue to enjoy old school, straight ahead, and smooth jazz and vocals. The club pays homage to the jazz and supper clubs of the 20s with some of today's jazz performers.
