- Washington Marriott at Metro CenterFirst to ReviewOct 28, 2013
This hotel will soon be starting a major renovation, though everything looked perfect to me already -- they just want a new look. The rooms are nice -- bright, cheery, no signs of wear or tear. The lobby isn’t fancy but it’s kept up well.
Metro Center is halfway to everywhere, so you get a pretty low weekend rate (about $150 per night) and it’s right across the street from a subway stop. Washington is the business traveler’s mecca -- the convention center is right next door -- so rates during the week soar to over $400 per night.
They also have a pool -- uncommon downtown -- and a decent-sized workout room. Across the street is the Capital City Brewery, offering a variety of home brews and such a fun atmosphere you can enjoy yourself just drinking Coke.
Fire & Sage, the hotel restaurant, is hit or miss, according to reviews, but there are several good options nearby: Bibiana, a chi-chi Italian place, and a cheaper option, M&S grill (one of my favorites).
