On a circle along Massachusetts Avenue, it's easy to miss this hotel amidst the official looking government buildings. It's not too far from Embassy Row, and there are a substantial number of foreign tourists. But many of them are here on vacation, not on official business!
The spacious lobby is sleek and has a pleasant ambiance. When I visited, a number of guests were sitting there, reading quietly. I liked the colors and the orange hued polished floor tiles.
The front desk staff was friendly and aimed to please. They call the colorful, hybrid fish in the lobby's fish tanks “their children.”
The room was as nice as the rest of the hotel.Recommended for:

I loved the location of this hotel. From our room on the 8th floor we had a beautiful view of Thomas Circle Park. The hotel is within walking distance of many DC attractions and restaurants. The only issue I had with our stay was the parking. Parking is $25/night which seems expensive. You can either have them valet park your car or self park in the garage underneath the hotel. Aside from that issue I enjoyed my stay. The hotel decor has a very modern feel to it.

This hotel has a pleasant, fresh look. It carries from the lobby to the stylized carpets in the hallways to the guest rooms upstairs.
There is often a fire going in the lounge, which is modern but has comfortable chairs. And I liked the bright, colorful dining room that overlooks the pool. The cuisine is American, but varies to include locally grown ingredients.
The neighborhood doesn't have as many restaurants as some other locations. Many guests head up the few blocks to the always happening U Street corridor.

This is a newly renovated hotel with rooms that have a much nicer newer feel than the lobby would suggest. The rooms are a good size, not showbox, but not big enough for hoola hooping. It seems as though it was a quieter hotel, but two rooms can be joined together by almost creating a suite with an outer door closing off the two adjoining rooms.
