In the southern part of Yosemite National Park, not too far from the Mariposa Grove of giant sequoia trees, this Victorian-styled hotel is more like a B&B, with small quaint rooms in two-story buildings set around a great grassy lawn. The cheapest rooms come without private bathrooms and can be chilly in early spring or autumn. The atmosphere is superb, making you feel like you're traveling in another century. But the thin walls, rickety beds and squeaky floors just don't seem to justify the high price tag.Recommended for:

We came by here for directions and hung around here just for a bit and used their gas station (for gas, duh) and their general store.
This hotel is pretty. It looks very old school historic. It reminded me of the South (like Forest Gump's home). You see kids playing on the outside. It really looked like a summer home.
Big water fountain and a large green area... you could do tons of cartwheels and sing and twirl. "Sound of MUSIC"
The inside was pretty. People could relax on the couches and chairs and they had magazines and even a Candyland board game. This place was classy.
The bathrooms were also clean. So if you need to make a stop here... do it.Recommended for:

I've always liked the Wawona and appreciate their continued attempts to stick to a bygone era and to help me get away from it all. I also don't worry too much about a shortage of outlets, since aside from my camera, I don't need my electronic toys here anyway. Better still is the distance from the Yosemite Valley and a gorgeous drive in if I really want to fight the tourist hordes.
I do however prefer to have a private bathroom, especially one with a claw foot tub. I have like the Dining Room, the expansive grounds, the nice service, decent prices, the golf course across the street, and the big trees if I drive South.

A very old but well kept and beautiful hotel. Friendly & helpful staff. Good meals offered with a excellent buffet in the morning. It offers many different food selections. There are some rooms without baths so if you want a private bath be sure to request it.
This hotel needs to be booked about a year in advance.
