Welcome Café, for me, didn't disappoint. Terry was my server and have never, in all my travels to Paris, come across a better waiter than him. No matter how busy he was attentive, friendly and gave excellent service. Knew all the menu items thoroughly. I love their onion soup, etc.

Sure, we paid double what we would have anywhere else, but after a bone-numbing ordeal that was my travel experience, I was more than happy to plunk myself down and enjoy my very fist lunch in this somewhat iconic café. I ordered up the "planche" of cheese along with more Kirs than a weary traveler should drink and my trip was off and running. The onion soup was excellent, too. The cheese platter, btw, serves 2-3 easily! The croissants and baguette are delivered straight from the bakery up the street and worth the price, especially if it's your introduction to French food. *If you're staying on Rivoli and you're looking for a good cup of joe in the morning, skip the $6 take-away cups from here and head over to... brace yourself... McDonalds (towards the statue of Joan d'Arc). Yup. It's the same coffee as they serve everywhere else in France (freshly pressed in a proper espresso machine) for less than 1/2 the price. You heard it here.
