The Richmond Guest House is a lovely 19th century twelve room villa less than 1 km from Courteney Place and Wellington city, The Richmond has recently been refurbished and has had all its' original features including beautiful ornate plaster ceilings and cornices throughout.restored to its 'former grandeur We have twelve rooms, single, double and twin and triple all of which have there own bathrooms plus hairdryers and radio alarms and newspapers delivered to rooms daily.

There is a communal kitchen where guests can prepare their own meals with a connecting dining room where complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate is always available. Plus we have a computer set up in the dining room for free internet use and there is free WiFi throughout the building as well, We also have a TV lounge And free laundry use is available. We are a 100% non-smoking property and not suitable for children.

We are on the shuttle bus route and within a 10 minute drive to the Airport, Rail, Bus, and Interisland Ferry depot. (Approximately $25 for two from airport and ferry)

To quote your host John Cairns, We don't claim to be the Hilton, but if you are traveling to Wellington for business or pleasure, for one night or ten, we offer clean, comfortable accommodation at an affordable price.

Nothing like your average capital city full of big government buildings. Wellington is beautiful and lively! Even from the little time I spent there I could tell Wellington is somewhere I would love to live! The only exception for me was that it was chilly there even in summer. But still I really loved the vibe! Wellington is definitely one of my favorite cities!

Funky, eclectic, and just plain cool. Wellington has a Bohemian vibe that jives with it's beachside ambience, making it seem like the offspring of San Francisco and San Diego. Definitely worthy of the Coolest Little Capital in the World title.

For a pastoral and nature infused country, Wellington is the urban heart of the nation. Hipster bars, amazing dining and enough art culture to push start the Lord of the Rings franchise.

Windy Wellington is where my in-laws live so will always be a place to go and visit family. It's a great place to find a spot in a coffee house and people watch. The museum Te Papa is fun for kids and adults alike.

Wellington has a lot of character for a small capital city. Their marketing plays on this a lot, but I find the slogan too irritating to repeat here. Go during the Arts Festival if you can, but it's worth a visit at any time of year.

Beautiful city along the coast. The business center along the waterfront is amazing! Winding along the bay, its streets are so amazing! Short walk to the harbour where you get a glimpse of more beauty! Love Wellington!

I feel like I've only explored a fraction of Wellington. I love its walkability and the Te Papa Museum. I attended a convention here, and it's a great location for meetings. But sadly, my convention took so much time that I'll have to go back to ride a cable car and visit the lovely church I noticed at a top of a hill.

I was amazed by the lush green landscape of Wellington It sits right on the harbor and reminds me a lot of San Francisco. However, the people are much friendlier. This is where Lord of the Rings was filmed so naturally we took a LOTR tour. Stay at the Duxton Hotel (http://wellington.amorahotels.com/). Its amenities are posh, but the toilet didn't flush the opposite direction as I expected. Eat curry noodles at Chow (http://chow.co.nz/) and definitely check out the Te Papa Museum to learn about Maori history (http://www.tepapa.govt.nz/pages/default.aspx).

I'm biased coz I'm from there, but Wellies (as we affectionately call her) is a lady of many moods, faces and delights. Also the idea base to explore the country.
Check out Lord of the Rings tours, South Coast, Te Papa, Oriental Bay, Courtney Place, The Waterfront, Mount Victoria, Scorching Bay, Makara, catch the ferry to the South island, to name a few.. as well as the many festivals and activities, especially during Summer (December - March)
    Most of all have fun!

Charming city, even if it is quite windy. Be prepared for a bumpy takeoff and landing.

Wellington, on North Island, is New Zealand's capital, set on the waters of Wellington Harbour and next to Cook Strait, and is sometimes overlooked by travellers on their way to the South Island.
