The hotel’s restaurant, The Exchange, lives in the 1930s and is up to its ears in art deco. I caught only a hint of this when I entered the hotel, but I realized afterward that it had colored my impression of the whole place. The building’s previous incarnation was as a bank headquarters (a local branch now occupies a small corner), a fact not lost on the designers, who use it as a motif throughout the hotel (NB: see name of restaurant). They created a lovely central atrium in what used to be a courtyard before several buildings were joined to make the hotel. I thought the room outclassed its four-star ranking and loved the bar in the former bank vaults, where you can set your drink down on old safety deposit boxes.

One of the first things you notice at the Westin is that the staff are very friendly. The Doorman – Michael – greets you at the door and he really is an asset to the hotel. Helpful, friendly and all-around lovely man. He seems to be a long standing institution at the hotel and really adds a lot the experience of any stay We were here on a Sunday when ‘jazz brunch’ was on in the Exchange Restaurant, and appeared to be pretty busy. This buffet style meal caters for every and any one with fish, Sunday’s roasts, pastas, vegetarian, sushi and even a chocolate fountain! All set to the music of a live musician.. The hotel itself is beautiful and the reception inviting, complete with a grand, welcoming fireplace. A luxury option but a great place to stay.

High quality property with an excellent location near Temple Bar and Trinity College. Housed in an old bank building -- the facade evokes history but the internal spaces are updated almost to the point of being a bit bland. Avoid tea / drinks in the atrium. Nothing special and the atmosphere feels a bit more suburban American than it should for one of Dublin's top properties.
