Fantastic central Melbourne location. Minute walk to anything. Grand hotel overlooking on of Melbourne busiest city squares. Lofty grand foyer with lots of comfy seats and a bar to the right. The rooms are expansive, the hallways are serene, a bit asian inspired while being very modern and clean. Quiet, well built hotel with all the amenities. Would add value to any stay.

As far as location goes, you can't get much better than the Westin on Collins Street. The hotel is minutes from Flinders St. Station, a major Melbourne transport hub and iconic landmark, and is flanked by high-end retail giants such as Chanel and Hermes. Walk inside and the interior lobby is no less regal (think stately winding staircase and richly upholstered furniture). The rooms are what you’d expect from a 5-star hotel: spacious, great views of downtown Melbourne, generous wardrobe space and bathrooms done up in marble. The complimentary wine bottle provided for special occasions is a nice touch, just be sure to let them know that it’s your birthday, anniversary, etc. when you make a booking. The gym and pool are both well sized for an urban hotel.Recommended for:

You couldn’t ask to be any more central than the Westin, located a single block north of the city’s main train station, Flinders Street, Federation Square and the Yarra River. The hotel is also just across the street from the famous Athenaeum Theatre and the Melbourne Town Hall.
As soon as you enter the lobby, the hotel’s five star rating is evident. Having enjoyed an extensive refurbishment in 2010, the hotel’s lobby is vast, decorated with beautiful sculptures and gilded mirrors as well as a tremendous assortment of paintings by Australian artist Jacky Redgate. The King Rooms are an impressive 38 square metres and are equipped with the usual DVD players, iPod docks and paintings that one would expect, but the free bottle of wine waiting on the table is certainly a nice touch.
What set it apart from other hotels in the CBD was the 24 hour gym, ideal for fitness junkies or those still waiting for their internal clock to reset. With its 20 metre heated pool, sauna, spa and cardio machines with built-in televisions, it’s perfect for relaxing or energizing; though with its onsite massage business, Healing Hands, I would rather use the hotel for winding down and use the nearby running tracks along the Yarra River for the perfect early morning pick me up.Recommended for:
