In 2007, Stuart Townshend filmed a re-enactment of the 1999 World Trade Conference demonstrations that devolved into riots. The event was later dubbed The Battle in Seattle, providing Townshend his movie's title. He filmed in on location in downtown Seattle, but perhaps the most iconic spot is Westlake Park, a busy urban park in the heart of the city. Westlake is definitely more docile than it appears in the movie, but it's also a frequent center for real-life political events. Everything from rallies to parades and protests happen at Westlake Park throughout the year.

Fabulous food court with adjacent Nordstroms, Macy's, and close access to the Monorail! http://www.seattlemonorail.com/about/#route

It is easy to make a day of the Westlake Center in Downtown Seattle. It is located just a few blocks up from the famed Pike Place Market!

Terrific shopping without a doubt! Have fun!

Westlake is okay, but a lot of folks are going to expect something a bit grander. There isn't that much super unusual or special about this mall, in fact, it doesn't even seem to have a lot of fun stores. Probably the best part of Westlake Mall is the food courts upstairs and the fact that the Monorail goes right by that part. In fact, Westlake's food area can be an Oasis for traveler's looking for more, "ordinary" fast food.

Strange that this listing is in Daly City, CA when it's basically the dead center of downtown Seattle.

Anyhoo, this is the go-to place for middle of Seattle activity. It's next to all the shopping and there's always something going on. Unfortunately, this place is always busy and full of people. Great for people watching... and smelling. Oh yeah, lots of homeless hang out here too.

Westlake center is an interesting little shopping center that serves an equally interesting crowd. Not too many stores that would interest me but I guess it is connected to the monorail. They have a nice crepe/dessert place that makes some decent food, but other than that it doesn't interest me too much.

Kind of reminds me of this shabby little "mall" at the end of Navy Pier in Chicago which by far was the worst shopping I've ever found in Chicago. Lost of antique/unique little stores though if you're into that kind of stuff ...
