Trendy art hotel located on Collins Avenue. The Whitelaw Hotel screams South Beach, but at least they own it. My favorite detail was the graffiti art on the walls by local artists. I'm a big fan of crystal chandeliers, but they may have taken it a bit too far at Whitelaw. Be sure to check out their happy hour, which is usually filled with tourists from the neighboring hostel. It's a great place to meet other travelers. There's also a sundeck on the roof, and though there isn't a pool the ocean is less than a block away. The rooms aren't huge, but I prefer the boutqie Miami Beach hotel experience to staying somewhere with more room. This place is perfect if you want to meet people and party.Recommended for:

Whitelaw has two things going for it. The place is stylish and posh--as it should be in fashionable South Beach--but also fun and lively. If you're in Miami to party with other misguided youths, Whitelaw provides a perfect backdrop. Needless to say, this isn't the best option for families or quiet couples. Clark Griswald in dad jeans would never put up with watered down cocktails and loud music at all hours in the lobby but spring breakers and spunky hipsters will relish in it. The hookah lounge and restaurant and happy hour specials are great for pre-party warming up. With its over the top Versace-on-acid décor and incessant EDM (that's what the kids are calling it these days), Whitelaw is a direct reflection of the unapologetic decadence of South Beach. The location is also excellent as it is right on Collins and steps away from shops, nightclubs, and the beach. However, this is a boutique hotel so there is funky furnishings but small rooms. Also, the check in/out can be very slow. They do provide valet service and an airport shuttle, which is great since parking can be a headache in that area.Recommended for:
