Expansive selection of Widmer Brothers beers and flight options (6 3oz pours) for $11. Enjoy a glass of Widmer right where it was brewed and take in the history of the beers from a knowledgeable bartender.Recommended for:History Buffs

Rob and Kurt Widmer have made the homebrewing dream come true. They are an inspiration to all future homebrewers out there, they started out in their garage in the Pearl District and now have an amazing brewery on the east side of the river. The Gasthaus always has the most fresh beer on tap that allows you to feel like one of the brewers getting the first taste at the new brews.
Go on a tour of the place and be prepared to be amazed at the bustling brewery. The staff and team who run this company are true beer lovers who have a passion for the Widmer brothers brand.

As the Widmer Gasthaus web site says - What began as a dream for two ordinary brothers who just loved beer is now a reality for two ordinary brothers who just love beer. And indeed they have great beer and very good food too.
Our tasty beers for the afternoon included the cloudy and refreshing Hefeweizen, a very hoppy Broken Halo IPA, a Drop Top Amber Ale, and the KGB Imperial Stout. Our main waiter also came buy with some samplers of an "experimental " ale they were working on. Interestingly enough, the samples was almost like drinking a small glass of Scotch.
I could have stopped there with a nice liquid lunch. But order food we did and we continued on with a great time together. Me and Gayle's niece had a very good pulled pork quesadilla, while Gayle opted for spicy buffalo wings, and the boyfriend had the Bourbon Bock Cheese Burger. It was all very good and more than enough to allow a good take home snack for our guests.
The Gasthaus has a nice cozy neighbourhood feeling and a welcoming atmosphere conducive to good fellowship. If I ever have a chance to come back, I most certainly will.
