I am planning to go to Mongolia for the first time and only have about 6days if I deduct the flight time. I really want to see the amazing nature of desert and mountain ranges. Willing to travel long distances and short visits to squeeze more in the few days we are there. Book talks about renting a jeep with driver. This seems like a good idea for a group of about 4-6. Please help us figure out what might be the best routing. Thank you!

The other place I'd recommend is Nomad Steppe Tourist Camp at Gun Galuut Nature Reserve. In this location, you will be able to experience sleeping in a ger and be close to nature (it is near the river and the view is stunning). You could also explore the area by bike or rent a kayak to explore the river. One night is sufficient if you arrive before noon.

It is at city center - easy to reach

You can see it from afar: it was simply magnificent and outstanding. You can climb the stairs to the 'head of the horse" and admire the scenery from the top. This place is also not very far from Ulaanbaatar.

It is not very far from Ulaanbaatar. Some gers have attached bathrooms - which can be more convenient. Don't miss the horse riding too!

Mongolia is tough because it's SO huge, and six days isn't a whole lot of time. KHARKHIRAA UUL & TÜRGEN UUL are popular for short treks or camel trips in serious deserted wilderness (which is the best of Mongolia), but it's going to be extremely difficult to do this in such a short time. Lake Khövsgöl is also considered a must-see in the country, and is gorgeous, but also more than 700 tough km from the capital. It's easier to fly into and out of Mörön, which is an intermediate stop getting you much closer to the lake. If you just want the big-sky-empty-steppes-and-nomads experience, a stay in a ger camp is pretty awesome. These traditional round felt huts in the middle of nowhere can be reserved here: http://www.mongoliagercamps.net/
In general, there are companies that do tours and jeep charter that can be arranged in Ulanbataar (usually charged per km), but you're still going to have a tough time seeing much of the remote beauty of this enormous country travelling overland in such a short time.
