Despite its proximity to Orlando, tree-lined Winter Park—and its top-five-ranked main street, Park Avenue—scored pretty well with readers for not having too many tykes running around (presumably they’re all safely tucked away at the theme parks). This historic Florida town also scored in the top 10 for bakeries and ice cream parlors. To see why, head to Lu Lu’s Ice Cream Shop and share a scoop of lemon pie or splurge with your sweetie on a sundae. Near to the Amtrak station, Croissant Gourmet’s contribution to the Cronut oeuvre is the Gourssant.Recommended for:

It will take you about an hour to drive here from our villa, but it is a great place to stroll around and look at the shops and boutiques.
Lots of nice places to eat and you can enjoy a walk in the park or take a boat trip on the lake.
Come at the weekend for the farmer's market.
If you are a train buff then there is the railway station to check out.Recommended for:

I went to school at Full Sail University which is in Winter Park. It kind of blends into Orlando, but it's so much nicer and prettier. I loved the area and being amongst the bustle of the school crowd.

About the closest thing Orlando has to upscale with urban sophistication. Too conservative to love but this is a great place to find greenery and escape the chain restraints that prevail elsewhere.

Winter Park is the most charming area in greater Orlando. Beautiful houses, gardens, golf club, museum, cafes and restaurants, art galleries and shops...
Most of the time visitors are so busy with parks and mall that don't see what else Orlando reserves. Save some time off and stop by Park Avenue where you'll find a lot to do!
