With a rooftop bar and a location just 5 minutes walk from Alexanderplatz, this is a good hostel to get bang for your buck. The rooms are comfortable, and the affordable additional breakfast is a good deal for those looking to quickly eat and get out into Berlin. It has all the normal factors of a hostel: communal kitchen, communal bathrooms, and dorms to share, but all are clean and well kept. However, I wouldn't expect the service to always be terrific, and the wifi has a new password from the front desk every 72 hours, but overall is a great hostel for a Berlin visit.Recommended for:

It's common for hostels to offer stacks of well-leafed through Lonely Plant travel guides, basic breakfast buffets, built-in pubs, and knowledgeable and friendly staff -- but how many boast an awesome rooftop deck with a sweeping panoramic view of Berlin, including Alexanderplatz and the TV Tower? If you're asking why to chose this hostel over hotels (especially in the summer months), that's a key talking point. The prices are about average for a hostel, and the rooms are sleek, with polished hardwood floors and bright and inviting colored walls. Wombat's is also at a central location with a slew of bars and restaurants that cater to the younger crowd within easy walking distance.Recommended for:

So many people are visiting Berlin these days that cheap (and terrible) hostels are popping up everywhere but Wombat's seems to have been an insider's tip among backpackers and explorers for a while now. Most probably because it's a unique spot, offering the prices and experience of a hostel whilst affording the comfort and service of a hotel.
I stayed in a mixed-sex dorm with some backpackers I didn't know but the electronic keys given at reception put me at ease regarding the safety of my stuff. I was especially pleased to see room service lay fresh sheets and clean the rooms every day, something which not all hostels subscribe to. They also offer private rooms that are a little more expensive but still reasonably priced. I joined a party in a private room which was on the upper levels of the hostel, and as Wombat's is in the city centre the views from the balcony were awesome. They were even better from the rooftop terrace were it was evident that barbecues take place in summer months. Alas it was almost winter when I visited!
For backpackers it's a must, not too expensive (you can save money by using the shared kitchens to cook your own food) and the coin laundry service is useful for sprucing up your worn gear. WiFi would have been a nice touch but they do offer internet stations that are cheap. The bar was a fun experience to meet some other guests but I would recommend Kaffee Burger just 2 minutes around the corner. Every night I went they had different live music with a cracking atmosphere.Recommended for:
Situated in the center of town, Wombat's hostel is a stone's throw from the upmarket shopping quarter of Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz and the restaurant and bar filled Torstrasse. Within walking distance are the Fernsehturm (TV tower) and Alexanderplatz, as well as the river Spree and the Museumsinsel (Museum Island).
Wombat's offers private rooms as well as mixed and single sex dorms
