When I visited Munich recently for the christmas market, I thought Marientplatz was the first square after the train station so I proceeded to walk despite the snow. That was when I realized I was in Karlsplatz because some of the christmas market stalls started here. I love the square with all the shops and a skating rink during december. ...

Timmy was our tour guide, he was an awesome dude, even with his painful hangover. The first place we went to was Augustiner Keller. He gave us some great history and insight about the place and how to properly drink out of steins. We established a drinking game for the rest of the night which added even more fun and ...

Does this area get crowded well before 11am and 12noon? Yes. Is it mainly tourists and gawkers? Again yes. Is it worth it? Definitely! Make sure you check the time that it's been going off, as I've heard it sometimes changes with the seasons, and will go off twice in a day, other times its just at 11am. I highly ...

I love this market! There are so many vendors with neatly displayed and super attractive meat, produces, sweets, etc. You name it, they have it. You can also get your lunch sorted here. It is a tourist attraction, but local also come here to shop as well. City markets are always the best place to start if you want to ...

The Peterkirche is the oldest church in the city. It also offers one of the best views of Marienplatz that you're bound to find. Unfortunately to enjoy that view you have to climb a few hundred feet of creaky wooden stairs to the tower, which is surrounded by a slender railing. I enjoyed the view from inside the tower.

Lots of large mustard colored buildings...what they don't tell you...and there are no signs...is that this is where a certain despicable frail little monster with a mustache used to give his hateful speeches. Again, no sign of it whatsoever...Now...just a bunch of clean oversized mustard colored buildings

Karl's Gate is one of Munich's remaining medieval gates. It's located in Karlsplatz and essentially divides the new from the old city. It also serves as something of a bookend for pedestrian walks starting at Marienplatz.

Five hundred kilometers from the German coast and more than 1,100 km from any surfable ocean breaks, Munich has no reason to be included on any surfer's short list. Or so one might believe. But never underestimate the creativity of the wave desperate. Just past a bridge crossing the man-made Eisbach channel near the southern edge of the Englischer Garten ...

The "new" cousin to the Alte Pinakothek. New in quotes because it is not a modern art museum. Another great collection of 18th and 19th century art. It is in the museum area of the city and you can hop from one to another.
