Rivaling both Crystal ballroom and the Roseland in size, Wonder ballroom is hands down the best large venue in Portland. Unlike the Roseland and the Crystal, the Wonder ballroom does not focus exclusively on mainstream acts. Instead, what you’ll find here is more indie and experimental bands that are much harder to see live. Every show will be one to remember as the floor space allows for easy movement and total visibility of the stage. If by chance your less than average in height, there’s a great balcony where you can survey the entire ballroom, which looks spectacular when full. With a bar downstairs and one upstairs, drinks are served throughout the show at a relatively reasonable price. Unfortunately, food is not served, but the surrounding area can provide food destinations that will ease the hunger pangs. Depending on where you’re staying in town, the Wonder ballroom is an easy bike ride away; however, you can catch a cab or even a bus, as it is located right off of a main boulevard.

Wonder Ballroom is a concert hall located in the Northeast section of Portland. I've seen the Smashing Pumpkins and Manchester Orchestra (an up and coming band from Atlanta, Georgia) perform live. The sound could be better (I could barely hear the singer's lyrics), but the raucous audience don't seem to mind. One complaint. If you're paying tickets at the box office, please bring cash! You can't pay by debit or credit (what is this - the Stone Age?) and there are no nearby ATMs.

Really small, intimate venue. Shows are consistently really cheap, and good!
