So the munchkin was about to have her first ballet recital and we needed to eat beforehand. On top of that the grandparents were going to be there and wanted to hang out ahead of time also.
So onto Yelp I went and lo and behold I found this joint near the venue. So we met up here for grub before the show. What makes it truly a unique experience is that my parents and I have all lived in Thailand. The munchkin hasnt been there though...
Pro Tip #1: Parking is very limited, so be prepared to park on the street.
The munchkin got her usual, pad see ew. It was decent but nothing spectacular. However the munchkin INHALED the broccoli that was in it. She thought it was super tasty with the spices.
The parents got different types of pad thai and they both enjoyed it and said it was very flavorful. However they also thought it was nothing spectacular. However knowing their standards, it was above average for sure.
Pro Tip #2: They take Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. No takie the AmEx! =(
I got the garlic & pepper chicken over rice. It came with a great amount of sauce and chicken dumped over rice. The flavor was definitely absolutely awesome and one of the best I have had. The only bad thing is that there was no spice to it. I need to remember to order it spicy there next time I go.
They do not have a huge menu unfortunately. None the less there are a lot of options on the menu. I just know that I have a huge preference on Thai food. Overall though it was very tasty to me.
I will be back. YUM! Pom arroy mak krup!

I don't understand how this place can have 4.5 stars. I'm starting to think that residents of Glendale have very under-developed palettes.
I ordered from here last night: chicken larb, orange chicken, chicken panang, and shrimp tom kha.
It came out to like $35 and it was BARELY enough to feed 3 adults. We don't even eat that much and usually have leftover whenever we eat out.
The portions seemed really small for what we paid.
The tom kha tasted more like lemongrass rather than coconut. I wish it was more balanced.
The orange chicken was laughable. Not much chicken. Mostly carrots and onions.
I was the only one that enjoyed the larb.
And, as someone mentioned before, the panang is too peanuty. Some people might like that, though.
3 stars for not being the worst thai food I've ever had. In fact, it's pretty good for GLENDALE as the other thai places are abysmal (Thai in LA, Sedthee, etc).
As far as I'm concerned, the steep drive up Glendale Avenue to eat at Woodlands Cafe is a waste of gas. Coasting back home in neutral kind of makes up for the loss, I suppose.
But I wouldn't bother going back again.
