Even though we were passing through Lincoln during the off season, Cathy and Vic opened their home for us. In late March only four of the museums in Lincoln are open and it took about an hour to see them all. It was the Wortley that made our trip. Vic invited us to have dinner with him and a few of his friends from the small town. The jerk chicken he made was masterful and the pot was very good. We ate in the historic dining room. On the walls there are pictures of Old Lincoln from the past 150 or so years, including the Wortley. We spent hours chatting away about travel, Cormac McCarthy and the idiosyncrasies of living in such a small town.
Our night's sleep was very peaceful. There were almost no cars on the road and for one of the few times in my life I was able to sleep in total silence and darkness. We arose to a warm shower and coffee before Vic served us bacon and eggs and sent us on our way. All in all we had a wonderful time.Recommended for:
