We think this is a great place to stay if you're looking for a local culture experience. Right in Trastevere, where you'll want to be hanging out anyway, and independently run by young Italians, who are happy to give you a feel for the city.

Absolutely the best gelato in Rome...no joke! The tiramisu and amarena flavors were the bomb. For the wee ones, the nutella is an excellent choice. Enjoy your cones in the park right down the street.

Oh so thin Pizzas. Small pizzeria on a side street in Trastevere. Menu of the day is a steal at 10 euros. Best of all is the unbelievably friendly service.

Follow the signs: If you see a large group of locals gathering inside and bustling outside a restaurant, you know it must be worth something. This place had exactly that-- we got two different types of pastas (both delicious) and some fried ball thing. Everything was excellent-- tasty, fresh, and CHEAP. The pizzas are apparently worth getting too, so don't ...

Great local bakery. They sell some items by weight (peep the huge scale in the shop). The window display of all the cookies and pastries were so appetizing. If you have the chance to buy 'Frappe,' (a light fried chip with powdered sugar), do it. They're famous here and only sold during Carnavale. Saw lots of locals here, and would ...

I was brought here by a local Roman who said this was his favorite pizzeria in Rome, so you know it's gonna be good. The pizza was thin and crispy. I ordered a white pizza with mixed vegetables. I was thrilled when it was placed before me with huge artichokes on top, among other things. It was good, but after ...

The best views of the square are from the front of this square. Great place for an aperativo. The bench seats facing the square are perfect. Better for drinks than food.

Upscale Roman cuisine in the Trastevere. The lamb was divine. Impressive wine list. Only drawback was the indifferent service. One of my favourite neighbourhoods in Rome though!

Great cafe in the Trastevere. The emblem on the outside is what drew us in, but it's a great place to stop for lunch or an early dinner. Love the decor!

Wonderful restaurant in the Trastevere with great outdoor (al fresco) dining, terrific wine list and great food. The lamb and pasta are both excellent as are the olives.

Italians are proud of their food, and as such there is little in the way of "alternative cuisine" in Rome. So finding this sushi restaurant on a main street in Trastevere was a little disconcerting. Even more so was the fact that it's actually pretty decent sushi. Take Sushi offers take out, though I've only eaten inside the restaurant, which ...

It is a nice place where having a good dinner, in Trastevere.I suggest to eat fish, that is prepared in a clasic way and is good. Spaghetti with vongoleAre my usual choice here. Competent gelato spot that is convenient if you are exploring Trastavere. Not quite as flavorful and I prefer a creamier (and probably more caloric) gelato.

Giolitti is one of the most famous gelato places in Rome. The decor inside is old world with wooden floors and cabinets and men dressed in black-and-white server attire. The gelatos taste very good and is definitely worth the trip.

I haven't had an espresso at every coffee shop in Rome, but it's hard to believe there is better than Sant Eustachio (but I'm open-minded to suggestions). Our guide at Walks of Italy pointed me in the direction of this one and I was impressed.
