Raise you're hand if you remember growing up on Hanna Barbera. Yeah mainly older people... whom may or may not have kids. Doesn't matter. This place is awesome!
Seriously, my only complaint is that a few areas could have more shade... Oh, and i wish i didn't have to go to the one ranger station in the campground to get wi-fi. Only complaints. Annnddd. maybe they could sell beer. Ok I'm done.
Yes this place is crawling with children... But you don't really realize it. There are 4 different pools here. One with a volleyball net and basketball hoops set up in it, a kiddy pool not even a foot deep with fountains and slides and toddler fun stuff, a regular hotel looking pool, and then an indoor pool in what looks like a green house. And then theres another small one i you count the ones with the 3 big water slides! Yes kick ass water slides.
The campground itself es very spread out, but with plenty of permanent sites, camper sites and tent sights. There's a small island over a bridge to make camp on, with its own beach on the lake. There's sights in the back along the tree line, but closer to the highway, and even 2 separate cabin areas. There are multiple playgrounds, a putt putt course a, water wars, bike and cart rentals, and a a little train to take you around, and sometimes a wagon. They have a huge entertainment building where there are arts and crafts during the day for the kids, or airbrush tattoos, and some days a scavenger hunt. Every night they have bingo with all the proceeds going to the winners of the about 15 or so games called. On the weekend afternoons they even have adult bingo which is 21 and up, and is nice to escape the kids for awhile and bring a cooler of beer and have fun.
There's a huge baseball field and a horseshoe pit and open area to get a group together or just let the kids run around. And there are meet and greets with the Yogi characters every day. The campground has different theme weeks all summer long, check the website for details. My favorite is Christmas in July towards the end of the month where the camp sites can decorate to their hearts content and theres different Christmas themed contests!
Its a great place for young and old alike! if you want to get away there's outlet malls and antique stores right down the street as well as wineries and a Buffalo preserve! Oh and added bonus? In the mornings they get Tom's Doughnuts delivered to the ranger station!! Trust me, their the best doughnuts in the area right off Lake James. Check it all out!Recommended for:Family Travelers
