The Yongsan Electronics Market (located at Yongsan Station) is a celebration of modern Korea's technology fetish: 5 floors of digital cameras, computers and laptops, rice-cookers, video cameras, audio equipment, electric shavers and PC accessories. Just wandering through the complex is impressive: if it runs on batteries or plugs into a wall, it's here. While visitors from the UK will probably find that they can bargain for goods at cheaper prices than they would find back home, North American visitors will probably end up paying more than they would in the States or Canada. The clerks at Yongsan can be a little aggressive, and are accustomed to fleecing tourists not used to the market experience: be sure to bargain hard.Recommended for:

Even if you're not planning to buy anything, visiting this enormous electronics market is worth it just for the "eye shopping" (that's Konglish for "window shopping"). Don't be afraid to bargain or walk away. If one vendor isn't giving you a deal, there's another with the same wares within spitting distance. BRING CASH! Most vendors will give you a 5-10% discount if you pay with cash. If they don't offer it out-right, then ask them for the cash discount.

Being a complete technology geek, I fell in love with this place. Korea is the second largest consumer of electronics in the world, their neighbors being number one. I can see how. Electronics in Korea are cheap. I bought some upgrades for my Macbook Pro here for a fraction of what I would have paid in the US.
There is an indoor market here levels and levels of different electronics gear. Typically each floor has theme, but not always. Outside of the mall is are vendors at stands getting rid of their cheap wares. If you go here, make sure to bring some one who knows electronics. Some will tell you what you want to hear to make the sale. This was one of the places in Korea I have experienced such a thing.

If you're a technogeek and you're in Seoul, Yongsan is a must see market. You will be quickly bombarded with floors upon floors of all of your electronic needs. I mostly window(ish) shopped the times I've been there, but you can find some sweet buys there. You can get there by subway, so it's pretty conveniently located too.
