Zaftig's has all the great food of a Jewish deli - noodle kugel, potato pancakes, knishes, gefilte fish - but what makes this place one of my favorite restaurants around Boston is the breakfast. More specifically, the banana french toast in bourbon vanilla batter with dates and berries. Oh, if that doesn't start your Sunday off right, I don't know what will.
The wait on weekends can be long - as in, a winding line out the door. Put your name in and take a stroll around Coolidge Corner, a lively area with tons of shops, restaurants, and a vintage movie theater. Just make sure to come back to Zaftig's for the best breakfast of your life.Recommended for:

Zaftigs is what I would call sort of "new-deli" -- they have a lot of traditional deli fare, but with a more modern edge. They have a great brunch -- plus are the only deli open on Saturdays in Coolidge Corner (most Jewish-owned businesses are closed on the Sabbath in that neighborhood) -- so the line can often be huge. But it's usually worth the wait!
