We have several places along the Riviera Maya that have been declared the Shrine of the Sea Turtles, like Tulum and Xcacel. And ‘possible, in the period of hatching eggs that goes from August to late October, you can get to see the turtles on our beaches to lay their eggs and to help the new born turtles to get to the sea, is really a unique feeling.Recommended for:

Zamas is an excellent retreat from the world. These rustic bungalows are owned and operated by an American family that couldn't have been more gracious. There is a restaurant on the premises, beachside with amazing views. This place is both secluded yet accessible to all the other wonders of Tulum. Don't just snorkel in the ocean, be sure to visit the many sinkholes in the area, they are magical. Don't miss the monkeys in the rainforest and the ruins by the the water.

I'm not quite sure -- even if you tried really, really hard -- it's physically possible to get stressed out at Zamas (or in Tulum in general). This place is the Mexican beach version of a hippie hotel; the chilled-out restaurant hosted gringos and locals munching on fresh fish and hummus, and sarong-clad women (and men) lazed in the sun, reading Kerouac and Heinlein. We stayed in a beach bungalow, which was, ahem, ... rustic (think sporadic electricity, bathroom behind a tiled wall but not a door). My perfect idea of a vacation is camping but on a really comfortable mattress (especially with the sound of the ocean to fall asleep to and a fantastic restaurant on site), so this was my dream location, but it's not for everyone.
