We have Zara in the US too but the ones in Barcelona were a dream to shop in. It was a department store with clothing, home goods, and even stuff for kids.

huge sara, always the death of my wallet after a great lunch in the city. From las rambles so down the small streets and you will find Zara, one of Spain's best stores! and always affordable!

Passeig de Gracia is the place to walk and shop. If you love shopping, then you'll love Passeig de Gracia. Since Zara is a Spanish clothing company, make sure you walk around and act like you own this place.

Zara is a Spanish clothing and accessories retailer based in Arteixo, Galicia, and founded in 1975. It is claimed that Zara needs just two weeks to develop a new product and get it to stores, and launches around 10,000 new designs each year. Zara also doesn't really advertise, which for some leads to a misperception that they are a "fashion imitator" of low cost products. In any event, this chain is considered a Spanish (or maybe Galician?) success story and a retail innovator.

I stopped in at this Zara the first night we were in Barcelona. It' was located very near the Hotel, so I was interested in seeing from myself what all the "fuss" was about. Gayle stayed behind at the Hotel and wished me well.

This Zara has 3 Levels, roughly divided into Men's, Women's, and Housewares. I took a look at some leather accessories and of course the clothes. Nothing really struck my high fashionisto tastes, and I was soon back in the room sharing a glass of wine with Gayle. It's not that Gayle wouldn't mind improving my dress, but a Spain vacation wasn't the time for her to work her magic.
