It can be hard to find vegetarian food in Hawaii, but Zippy's surprised me by selling vegetarian chili! And for those on the more meaty side of the dining spectrum, they even offer chili with no beans!
The food is not fancy, but it hits the spot!Recommended for:

I didn't know what to order because everything sounded amazing. I heard they are known for their chili but I went with the Wun Tun Min and couldn't have been happier. Although they give you a big bowl that’s hard enough to finish as it is, I could have killed another bowl. When I go back to HI, this place is in my top 5 things to do. LOVE IT!Recommended for:

Chili. Fried Chicken. Mac Salad.
Mention those 3 words to almost any kama`aina and most likely the word "Zippy's" will pop into mind.
Zippy's is known to many locals as the place to get some of the best chili, fried chicken, and mac salad in Hawaii.
People will pick up a Zip Pac for a day at the beach, or dine at the restaurant for a late-night meal (they are open 24 hours).
On this visit I ordered one of my "usuals" - Wun Tun Min with a side of French Fries and Gravy.
Everything was delicious as usual.
I'm sure it won't be long before my next visit to Zippy's.

I really wish there was a Zippy's on the Mainland =/ This place is like the Denny's of Hawaii it's open 24hr hours and they are on every corner. It's myfavorite late night spot for all my Hawaiian favorites/. They serve your typical Hawaiian staples ALL DAY... spam, portuguese sausage, or corn beef hash with rice and eggs. And plate lunches: chicken katsu, teri beef, bbq chicken, fried garlic chicken with rice and mac salad. All are pretty good. Try the fried garlic chicken it's my perfect late night snack!

I haven't been to Zippy's enough times in my life, probably on account to the fact that Hawaii has cheaper options. Zippy's, though beloved, is in fact slightly pricier than other plate lunch places, however it's also nicer too. The casual atmosphere in the table service area reminds me of a country cafe, where the wait staff treat you like family. The adjacent bakery, Napoleon's Bakery, serves up a variety of better-than-grocery-store quality pastries.
Zippy's is highly recommended for anyone just visiting Hawaii!Recommended for:
