Such a San Diego Gem, museums, children's playground, gardens, the SD Zoo, trails, large lawns, events, it's really got it all! It's especially fun to visit during the holidays & see the Festival of Lights.

A great museum...a little expensive and the expanded exhibits cost extra but worth a day trip. Also, all the museums in Balboa Park have a roving schedule where they are free on selected Tuesdays. A great date idea; visit a few museums and have a picnic lunch :)

A really fantastic museum, hard to believe (yet lucky!) we have so many in our own (San Diego's) backyard. Located just north of downtown, visit this gem of a museum that regularly features major exhibitions from around the world, as well as an extensive year-round schedule of supporting cultural and educational programs for children and adults. Very cool that the ...

A memory of times past. The bastion of our experiences. What remains of ourselves when these times turn to dust in our hands? Maybe all we are are a million little gods causing rainstorms, turning every good thing to rust.

Adorable, smallish theater in Balboa Park. I came here for a performance of The Nutcracker by the SD Youth Ballet Company and it was really great. Parking is easy and nearby.

I love the Old Globe! So much history and character in this playhouse. During the holidays, try to catch a showing of How the Grinch Stole Christmas and be sure to take a picture under the gigantic, whimsically decorated trees outside.

This organ pavillion provides a stunning backdrop for photo shoots, so don't be surprised when you see a wedding party or two taking photos while you walk to your car. Aside from that, it's an excellent venue for performances. I performed here every year for December Nights (formerly Christmas on the Prado) and highly recommend that event in Balboa Park.

It's nice but pretty small. I'm not sure if it's worth the price of admissions. The place is well maintained and there's a good variety of things to see. I did like it.
