This is a cute little village that is a lot less hot because of the lake. The people are very friendly and there are a lot of retired American ex-pats. It is a really beautiful and magical place in Mexico. I felt really safe here too.

Ajijic is a small city located on Lake Chapala roughly fifty miles south of Guadalajara. It is a gem of a city, full of chic boutiques, small restaurants, and very friendly people. It has a large population of Americans, Canadians, and some Europeans. Outside of the rainy season, it has about the most perfect weather that I have ever experienced. Everyday is a sunny day with a temperature in the late seventies, although it sometimes cools in the evenings. This is one of the few place that you can eat in a restaurant on Lake Chapala and not be bothered by mosquitoes, or any other insect for that matter.
