For a casual ocean vist in SF, definitely go to baker beach. Superb view of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands, the Pacific, cliffside homes, and sunsets- all at once. It's never been crowded for me. Good sand, too. Fun Facts: Burning Man started here in 1986 with a 9ft. wooden man. Also, I saw a nude sunbather last time I visited.

Yeah, we've all heard; Baker Beach is the nude beach. Not strictly true, but there is a clothing optional section. It's mostly listless old men, but you'll find all types in the clothing optional section and, hey, that's what makes San Francisco great.
Otherwise, this little section of the bay coast offers some of the most spectacular views of the Pacific and the bridge. On a really sunny day, SF's fun-loving residents come out to play. Along with Dolores Park, Baker Beach makes me wonder if anyone in this city actually works-- just because it's a weekday doesn't mean the beach will be deserted.

This beach is beautiful, it has a view that is incomparable. If you keep walking towards the bridge, you'll eventually be right under it. The walk requires some climbing and tide dodging, but it's worth ending up right under the Golden Gate Bridge

It's smaller than Ocean Beach and you'll love the view of the GG! Tip: bring lots of warm clothes, even on a summer day - it can be colder than think. Tip #2: if you walk toward the Golden Gate Bridge, you'll find the section of the beach that is NUDIST! You're not required to be nude to be there, but if you're sensitive about naked people running around, then don't walk too close to the bridge! Welcome to San Francisco!
