If I say that this is the area’s most luxurious complex, there will be no argument from anyone who is familiar with the premier properties from Hilton Head to Blufton, where this 20,000 acre resort is located. The exclusivity factor here is immediately apparent when you slowly cruise down the five-mile drive. When you finally arrive, passing impressive homes (some for rent) into what looks like a stage set for the perfect southern village, you spy an imposing white edifice with dual verandas overlooking the May River. “That be the inn.” Bellmen are right there and as your doors are opened, you look onto toppled greathouse ruins and beyond to a diminutive, white clapboard church. After check in, and a look-see around the flower-bedecked lobby, to the jazzy contemporary lounge and restaurant (cuisine is gastronomic), you say: “This is the good life! A bellman delivers you to your accommodation by golf cart, a simplistic cottage a-la-overseer style, and yet it is sumptuous!Recommended for:Luxury Travelers
