I loved my time in Ocho Rios! It's a bit strange because it is one of those ares that is definitely set up just for tourists. But it did allow you to have a taste of Jamaica even if it was a sanitized version.

Stopped here from a cruise, but a great place to visit nonetheless even if we were just there for a day. You should definitely have their jerk chicken barbeque. If going in the market, just beware of aggressive vendors. Learn to bargain and say no. hehe

My least favorite of all the major towns. A lot less culture and geared mostly towards tourists. There are reasons to go to Ocho Rios, the falls, mystic mountain or as a cruise stop.

"Ochi"as it is affectionately called by the locals is a buzzing tourist town. I stayed at a place I found on AirBnB and it was WELL worth the month Marcia and her Husband were perfect hosts and their home was beautiful and quite. The town is surrounded by beach, you smell it, hear it and get some good food that comes out of it. Can I just move there? Most people find the highlight to be the beach or the shopping (which is beyond excellent) but I found the MUFFIN man who sells his herb infused muffins on the street to be the most intriguing of them all! He is profound and if you haven't met him while there, you aren't prowling the goodness of Ocho Rios well enough!

My wife and I spent 10 days in Run-A-Way Bay Jamaica. It was an All Inclusive resort. The resort was ok the room somewhat of a disappointment, the food left something to be desired, however the employees were super fanstastic, which more than made up for the Not so elegent resort.

We LOVED Ocho Rios! The key is to hire a local to take you around. They want you to like their city and will only take you to the best places. We asked to go to Fern Gully, ride horses in the ocean and eat local food. Our guide took us everywhere we wanted to go and more. LOVED our day in Ocho Rios.
