    An absolute must do while in Arenal. Hot thermal springs set in a lush, jungle-like setting, rich with various waterfalls and pools across its gardens. It looks just like I would imagine paradise to look like. This is part of a hotel, but separate entry is possible for 89 dollars. A bit pricey but worth every cent. It includes a generous lunch and you can easily spend a few hours here.

    This is an absolute must do. Hot springs in a sprawling, amazing, landscaped garden with waterfalls, different pools and lots of privacy. There is also a hotel here where you can stay - have not stayed here but it looked very nice.

    Once of our favorite places to stay. Not too pricey if you plan on gooing to their hot springs just down the street, because it is included in the rpice of the room. So get there early for checkin!

    Whether you stay at the hotel as well or just visit the thermal springs, Tabacon is a wonderful place to soak away long-term travel dirt, or just relax for hours on end.

    Excellent resort high in the Costa Rica highlands. They host a fantastic playland combining naturally flowing thermal springs and rivers with constructed thermal pools featuring pool bars and areas of varying degrees of hotness. This is the place to stay when checking out the Arenal volcano, which is Costa Rica's most active - frequently sporting fire shows of molten lava. What more would you expect from Central America?!

    An amazing, epic experience. If you can afford it, you can stay here. Otherwise, go hike the volcano during the day, and then come here in the evening for drinks and to soak in the natural hot springs. They are heated by the volcano itself, and guided into natural rock pools strewn throughout the jungle where you can go and sit and watch the red lava flow out of the volcano (on a clear night and the reason to go at night). You also stumble upon little bars set up around the area. Perfect spot, really cool.

    AMAZING! My friends and I stayed at Tabacon for 4 nights and we were all thoroughly impressed by the facilities, service, and food. Honestly this was one of the highlights of our trip.

    Hotel:
    =======
    The hotel is great! The rooms are clean and located in the middle of the rain forest. The rooms are routinely serviced twice a day. In the morning towels are replaced, beds are made, and everything is cleaned up. At night beds are pulled down and chocolates left on the bed. Honestly they take care of everything: picking up our trash, etc!

    Hot Springs:
    ============
    Beautiful! Normally cost about $60-70 a day, but free for hotel guests. A picturesque setting within the forest in Arenal. The natural heated springs are relaxing and surrounded with trees and waterfalls. The resort is filled with many secluded areas. There are enough small sections, such that every party or couple can have some privacy. Many of the pools vary in warmth to accommodate for all preferences. The even have a larger pool with a walk-up bar and water slide!

    Service:
    ========
    Impeccable service!The staff went above and beyond. Upon check-in we were greeted with a welcome beverage.

    American Airlines lost our baggage, and the hotel told us to enjoy ourselves while they took care of it. They even took the time to find us at the Hot Springs to privde us with updates. The next morning our bags were in the room. Note that the staff at DoubleTree in San Jose didn't even bother to help. Thank goodness for the Tabacon Staff!

    During the vacation I burnt my leg really badly. The guest services staff took the time to personally take me to their on-site medical clinic. Upon arrival the injury was cleaned and another medicine was suggested. The hotel even offered to buy the medicine for me, instead of my going to the pharmacy in town. The next day it was in my room along with a handwritten letter from guest services. They did all this and only charged the cost of the ointment ($7). I even saw the same exact tube at the airport pharmacy for $17.

    Service was amazing!

    Los Tucanes Restaurant:
    ==================
    I came to Costa Rice more for the adventure, but had little expectations for the food. However our dinner at Los Tucanes was great! Everything from the appetizer to the dessert. It even came with an amuse bouche, palette cleanser and small dessert! The service here was also exceptional. They even called a cart to drive us back to the room, because it was raining!

    Ave del Paraiso Restaurant:
    ====================
    Decent food. You have the option of eating a la carte or buffet. The buffet changes each night. The Costa Rican Buffet was very good. I loved the carving station, which provided some of the best steak I ate during my entire vacation (with the exception of the tenderloin from Los Tucanes). Service was a little slow by American standards, but I think it was just a cultural difference -- the staff not wanting the customer to feel rushed.

    The Grand Spa:
    ===========
    Beautiful spa with a great professional staff. Everyone is very attentive. They provide water, smoothies, coffee and tea along with your treatment. The Grand Spa also has a private tub in a nice relaxing setting. Each massage takes place in a private bungalow hidden in the forests of Arenal. While enjoying your massage you get to enjoy all the natural sounds of animals and running water. It's a great place to unwind and very romantic for couples.

    I would definitely suggest that anyone visiting Costa Rica visit Arenal and go to Tabacon. It is very affordable compared to hotel rates in the states, and you are sure to get 5 star service!

    An epic relaxing adventure. Not to be missed. A river of hot water meanders through a lush , winding tropical landscape . Hot waterfalls, pools for swimming, cool pools for relaxing between the warmer pools Aladin style basket curtained beds for private naps beside the river with gentle spa music playing from the forest in the Shangrala Garden section of Tabacon. Great Restaurant. Wonderful adventure for a romantic couple or a whole family reunion.

    This place is a Must to see while in Costa Rica! If u don't stay here at least one night, u have to bathe in the Hot Springs which is a must! The Hot, natural waterfalls are energizing and the gardens are well maintained.

    Another must do. Really beautiful and peaceful. I went at night...very romantic. I don't know how much fun this would be if it was really crowded. I would aim for unpopular times to avoid crowds.

    This was a very pleasant resort situated near the base of Arenal Volcano. Our room had a wonderful view of the volcano and there were many thermal spas to soak in at a variety of temperatures and environments - some more private than others. The resort grounds and surrounding area were also quite nice with wild banana trees and rainforest animals. This resort was close to the small town of La Fortuna which had a wonderful selection of restaurants, each of which was preferable to the resort's dining options in terms of price. We spent 3 days here and left with fond memories of our time at Tabacon.

    While the hotel was above our budget, my husband and I enjoyed luxuriating in Tabacon's hotsprings. Several scenic and well-groomed pools of different tempatures kept us occupied for hours. The swim up bar didn't hurt either :)

    A hot spring thermal resort should be a must do on your plan for Costa Rica. There are many naturally occurring hot springs around the world, many affiliated with volcanic activity. In Costa Rica, there are hot springs of different temperatures, flow volumes and mineral content that can be found in the regions around the Arenal, Irazu, Miravalles and Rincon de la Vieja Volcanos. Hot springs are considered a natural expression of Earth's inherent energy. Geologically, Tabacon Resort's thermal natural springs are 97% rain-based and 3% magma-based. Rainwater enters the earth through fissures on the surface and is then heated by magma found in the earth's core. Once heated, the waters rise to surface, taking with them minerals found in the earth's rocky stratus.

    In Volcan Arenal. You don't need to stay there to enjoy the thermal pools but I do suggest staying a night if possible. Unique experience. Beautiful and relaxing. Lots of wildlife too.

    Oh my god. This was the highlight of my Costa Rican adventure. Granted it was a pass on an organized Arenal day tour, I didn't overnight here, but from all accounts we got the better deal. The thermal pools were beyond fabulous, I could've stayed in the water until I got prune fingers! Excellent amenities. The grounds were spectacular. Hopefully I will return!

    We took advantage of the buffet+ night package. It was a nice place, but I think it would've been better in the daytime. Personally, I had more fun at Baldi hot springs which is also way cheaper (I think less than $20/person).

    But I'll have to go check this place out in the daytime next time.
