Penguin Island

Well, I have yet to see an actual penguin on Penguin Island. I've seen lots of other wildlife, though: bold seals, nesting gulls, pelicans, dolphins and a peregrine falcon. Kayakers are often ... read more
assaulted by overly-friendly seals who inhabit nearby Seal Island. My fisherman husband, who goes to Shoalwater Bay most weekends, has had frequent visits from a hungry dolphin that swims right up to his boat, hoping for a fishy snack. There are plenty of activities for visitors to Penguin Island - visit the little education center and learn about the local fauna, fish, swim, kayak, or take a dolphin tour. This is an excellent weekend day-trip.

Khaosan Palace Bangkok Hotel
139 Khao San Road, Phranakorn, Bangkok, Thailand
Greg G's rating: 3 Jul 12, 2014
Khao San palace hotel is a hotel located on the main drag of Khao San road, the backpacker district of Bangkok. One of the main draws of this hotel is the rooftop pool. The pool is far from 5 star, ... read more
but since very few hotels offer pools on Khao San, it is probably the best you will get. The rooms are a pretty good size, but very dated. Bathrooms could use a major upgrade. I've read other reviews where the staff isn't friendly, but I had a pleasant experience with all the staff. The hotel is popular for young backpackers who get drunk and stumble into the hotel late at night, so I'm sure this tests the staff patience night after night. You can't beat the location of Khao San Palace, positioned perfectly in the center of Khao San road. I probably wouldn't stay here again, but not because of the hotel, rather the guests that frequent it. If you're a young 18-23 year old backpacker looking to party every night on Khao San, then this is your place.

The first time I ate dinner at 7 Soldi I sat inside and settled into a really amazing seafood pasta. It was a little oily, yes, but wow did it taste good. It was full of mussels and clams and scampi, ... read more
fresh and not overcooked. It was clear that locals ate here as well as tourists, and most of the tourists ate outside. On my return trip I had pizza and sat outside. The down side of sitting outside was not cigarette smoke, but exhaust and noise from motor scooters. Going back again I'd get the seafood pasta. Prices are low compared to other Naples restaurants, and the atmosphere is friendly. 7 Soldi is just off Via Toledo, in the Spanish Quatrer of Naples off Via Toledo.

famous for their oyster with thin noodles. Or also called "oami sua" There's a potbellied gentleman that slops the noodles into a bowl very efficiently. I was excited to get mine, but unfortunately the taste didn't do it for me. :T I like oysters just fine too but overall the noodles, sauce and oyster combo was not a MUST HAVE. Glad I got to try it once though!

is always the traditional #1 sandwich "banh mi thit nguoi" or combination sandwich. Every time I go here, I never buy just one sandwich. I usually buy 2 or more. I never get tired of their sandwiches. The wait is long but it's well worth it. The mom and dad don't speak English very well so if it sounds like they can't hear you, they are not trying to be rude. I also like their egg rolls.
