Beautiful complex of gothic and romanesque churches and other religious places, all of them perched atop the cliff. It is attractive for both the spiritual seekers and tourist. The chapel of St. Michel you can find various well preserved frescos.
This chapel contains the miraculous image of Our Lady of Rocamadour (the statue displayed on the main Basilica is just a copy). Hanging on the ceiling is said to be a miraculous bell. Legend says whenever the sailors are in trouble the bell tolls.
It was so difficult to choose the right hotel when we decided to visit this city on top of a mountain. All hotels in the area said they were at the centre so I decided to ask our tour operator friend in france and he booked us here. Perfect! I think it is the best hotel in Rocamadour despite being only 3 star....more
This is a huge Basilica with other chapels in the interior and of Gothic architecture. It was built upon a cliff. I was looking for the Notre Dame Chapel so I stumbled upon this church. A copy of the miraculous Madonna stands on the side altar of this basilica....more
